1,023 Shiv Sena workers arrested for 'MNIK' trouble |

Mumbai: More than 1,000 Shiv Sena activists have been arrested for vandalising cinema halls and multiplex that will screen Shah Rukh Khan starrer "My Name Is Khan", officials here said today. Till today morning, 1,023 Sena workers had been arrested under various charges like rioting, damaging property, unlawful assembly and trespass. They had also attacked Broadway cinema at Kandivalli East in the city. Report says that 955 of the activists were arrested under the preventive action and some others were put behind bars for multiple cases, including vandalizing screens.
Stringent security is in place in 63 theatres across Mumbai where the screening of the film will start from February 12. Moreover, Mumbai police chief have issued guidelines to all police stations regarding security arrangements. (IANS) |
