| Mumbai: Former Maharashtra opposition leader and ex-minister Madhukar Pichhad took over as the state Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief replacing R.R. Patil here today, a party leader said.
Pichhad's appointment comes in the wake of Patil taking over as state home minister last month.
According to a party office-bearer, Narendra Verma has been appointed as Mumbai NCP chief at meeting held here today afternoon.
Verma replaces Sachin Aher, who has joined the government as a minister of state, the office-bearer said.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and party chief Sharad Pawar's nephew Ajit Pawar. (IANS) |
