| Kolkata: Recent victory for Mamata Banerjee in Bengal is perhaps the sign of early polls in the state. Following the comment of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P. Chidambaram also harped on the point that there is a wave of change is going on in the state.
In an open declaration before the media, Home Minister P Chidambaram stated that Left has lost its popularity in Bengal.
While giving an interview to a national daily, Chidamabaram stated that Mamata has been successful in sending across her party's point of view to the people of Bengal. He further added that her way of interacting with people and view points have found resonance across the state.
Hinting that the Left Party needs to respond to her call, Chidambaram antagonized CPM and blamed the party for the upsurge in Maoist violence in Bengal. He also pointed out the fact that the CPM and the CPI (Maoist) did not confront each other for 20 long years with a notion that they both were on the same side of the line. |
