New Delhi, July 23: The BJP today is turned down Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's lunch invitation ahead of parliament's monsoon session following the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoning Gujarat minister Amit Shah in connection with the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh killing. "Four of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leaders were invited for the PM's luncheon meeting but we decided not to attend it over the bitter atmosphere following CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) summon to Shah," said Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
The monsoon session of parliament starts on July 26.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has been accused of killing Sohrabuddin Sheikh near Ahmedabad in a staged shootout in 2005. His wife Kauser-Bi has also been missing since then. Police claimed he was a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative. (IANS) |
