Mayawati's mega rally: Opposition claims Rs 200 crore spent |

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati's rally is certainly going to be a mega affair as the capital city Lucknow is dressed in blue to witness the biggest political rally ever. Besides the completion of 25 years for the Bahujan Samaj Party, today is also the birth anniversary of its founder Kanshi Ram. With more than 25 lakh people expected to attend the rally, two special trains have been allotted to meet the added influx of passengers to Lucknow.
According to the reports from the Opposition, the rally is expected to cost Uttar Pradesh Government a whopping Rs 200 crore. About ten thousand police personnel have been deployed and 14 CCTVs have been installed at the rally ground.
Moreover, a 30-bed hospital put in place in case any accident takes place. 200 doctors and 500 paramedics will be on duty. Besides this, lodging and dining arrangements are in place for about 10 lakh people.
About thousand quintals of flowers were brought in from various parts of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata for the decoration purpose. Adding to that, 1600 government buses and 5000 private buses, which ply within the state, will be used during the rally. Around 10 lakh LED lights will be used to wrap the Lucknow city in blue. |
