After venue, poster war between BSP, Congress

| Lucknow: After the tussle between Uttar Pradesh's ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress over the venue for their rallies to celebrate Bhimrao Ambedkar's 119th birth anniversary April 14 in Ambedkarnagar town, the two are fighting over the posters for the event.
While the BSP first drew much flak for holding a particular ground for its own celebratory rally and denying it to the Congress, which had no option but to settle for another venue in the neighbourhood, the Congress now is at the receiving end for putting up posters without Ambedkar's picture.
The party's posters only announce a rally to be addressed by general secretary Rahul Gandhi in the town named after the architect of the Indian Constitution, about 150 km from here.
BSP state chief Swami Prasad Maurya today blamed the Congress for "exposing itself by not even caring to have pictures of Babasaheb (Ambedkar) on their posters, meant to announce the celebrations for his birth anniversary."
However, state Congress spokesman Subodh Srivastava denied that these posters have been put up by the party and accused the BSP of attempts to malign the Congress.
"These posters sans Babasaheb's pictures were planted surreptitiously by the BSP only with the sole intent of putting the blame on us," he said. (IANS) |
