Rajya Sabha pays homage to Chhattisgarh martyrs, adjourned again |

| New Delhi, April 15: Rajya Sabha MPs stood in silence for two minutes to pay homage to the 76 security men killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh before being adjourned for the second time till 2 p.m. today over demands for a debate on the attack.
After paying tribute to the martyrs, the opposition parties laid by Bharatiya Janata Party leader M. Venkaiah Naidu demanded a debate on the massacre.
Minister of State for Science and Technology informed the house that Home Minister P. Chidambaram will make a statement at 2 p.m in the Rajya Sabha.
"We can have a debate soon after the home minister makes statement," Chavan added.
The house was then adjourned till 2 p.m.
The April 6 massacre, the biggest Maoist attack in four decades, claimed the lives of 75 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers and a Chhattisgarh policeman. (IANS) |
