| New Delhi, Aug 24: The opposition will put forward a range of issues in the Parliament on Wednesday and that is likely to catch the government unguarded. Besides the ongoing tussle over the amendment of Nuclear Liability Bill, the opposition has several other issues to debate about.
Turbulence in Jammu and Kashmir and the spate of Maoist violence are among the other issues which the opposition will bring forward.
The clearance of 18 amendments by Union Cabinet on Friday incensed the opposition parties. It is to be noted that the amendment was done to the clause which deals with liability of a supplier in case of a nuclear accident.
The amendment to Clause 17 (B) sounded controversy as that gives the operator of a nuclear plant the right to seek damages only if the accident has occurred due to the "intent" of the supplier.
BJP demands the amended clause to be referred back to the Parliamentary Standing Committee. |
