| New Delhi: The Congress and the BJP were today involved in an arguement over the contents of the Liberhan Commission. As per this report the prominent leaders of BJP like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Murli Manohar Joshi and LK Advani have been found to be responsible for what happened to Babri Masjid on 6th December 1992.
MS Liberhan submitted the report on 30th June. His inquiry has spanned 17 years and in his report he has termed the BJP leaders pseudo moderates. The report has also indicated that the entire attack had been planned out properly before it was executed.
It has also said that there was no evidence that proved that the BJP leaders were innocent or unaware of the goings on. The home ministry has been providing the last touches to the ATR (Action Taken Report). It is looking to table it with the Commissions report during the winter session of the Indian parliament.
It remains to be seen whether the Congress would be employing the report for purposes of cornering BJP at the lower house of the Parliament. One also needs to see if the report has any legal implications as far as the accused are concerned. Justice Liberhan has refrained from commenting on the issue.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the Congress spokesman has also maintained a similar stance. However, he said that the criminal culpability would be decided on the basis of what has been mentioned in the report. Rajiv Pratap Rudy the spokesperson of BJP has said that only certain contents of the report have been provided to the media. |
