Beijing: Abhinav Bindra clinches first gold in men's 10m air rifle. The ace shooter has created history by winning the first ever individual Olympic gold medal for India. Abhinav won the gold in 10m Air Rifle event. Abhinav Bindra scored 700.5 points in
the final. The gold medal is surely going to give a boost to the entire Indian Olympic participants. There is a wave of happiness and celebration across the country.
Throughout the history of Olympics, India has managed to get bronze and silver medals in the individual category, though the Indian Hockey team which has won 8 gold medals.
Born on September 28, 1983, he was the youngest Indian participant at the 2000,
Sydney Olympics. He won six gold medals at various international meets in 2001. In the Air rifle event at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Manchester, he won Gold in the Pairs event and
Silver in the individual event. At the 2004 Olympic Games, he broke the Olympic record but failed to win a medal. |
