New Delhi, July 8: With the reports of the water level rising in Yamuna River owing to incessant rains and release of 50, 000 cusecs of water into the river by Haryana, the Delhi Government issued flood alert to its citizens.

The government has urged the people living low-lying areas to shift to higher elevations if possible.

Delhi revenue minister Raj Kumar Chauhan assured the Delhiites that both the flood control department and disaster management authority have been ordered to remain alert and take required steps to tackle any untoward incident.

The minister also added that the concerned departments were asked to pull up their socks and maintain effective coordination to tackle the situation.
