| Berhampur (Orissa), Aug 9: Heavy rains in three south-western districts of Orissa have led to the flash floods that have deeply affected around 85,000 people.
According to the state Revenue and Disaster Management minister S N Patro, the rivers have submerged vast areas.
The latest report reveals a rather alarming fact. Relief camps have been set up in 151 villages of the affected blocks and it is the community kitchen that has taken the responsibility of serving food to the affected people,
Patro was accompanied by Information Technology Minister Ramesh Majhi and Labour minister Puspendra Singhdeo during the former's visit to the flood-hit districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Koraput.
The Minister has asked the district administration to gauge the damage at the earliest. He also assured that the people affected by the flash flood will be duly compensated as per the provisions of the state relief code. |
