| Mumbai, July 5: Local trains, the lifeline of Mumbai, plied normally today but saw few commuters travelling owing to the nationwide strike against the hike in fuel prices.
While the Mumbai local trins were delayed by 5-10 minutes, long distance trains operated on normal schedule, railway officials said.
However, services of two long distance trains - Sinhagad Express and Vidharbha Express - were reportedly disrupted as various party men stopped these trains briefly.
Earlier today, Shiv Sena activists tried to stop suburban trains outside the western suburbs of Borivli and Andheri.
Attempts were made to stop trains at Mulund station as well but officials foiled the plans and detained 50 people. (IANS) |
