| Mumbai: After the day long drama in the courtroom with Kasab's lawyer Abbas Kazmi addressed as a liar by the court, the issue was finally resolved after the former apologized before the court. He was later given the green signal to continue as Kasab's lawyer after he made an apology to the judge.
Special judge M L Tahaliyani had earlier raised doubt about the continuation of Abbas Kazmi after he was found lying on certain issues during the trial on Thursday. It was during the trial that Ujjwal Nikam presented a formal list of witnesses who submit their affidavits in the court but they will not be called in for interrogation.
It was while the closing the prosecution case that Kazmi refused to agree that he had prior knowledge of the affidavits of witnesses.
Kazmi was however hurt as the judge addressed him a liar. Later, the judge withdrew the comment about calling him a liar. He further asserted that he did not want to make such remark.
Later Ujjwal Nikam convinced Kazmi to make a public apology in the interest of the case. After Kazmi apologised, he also stated that he had made a mistake in the heat of the moment. |
