Wake Up Sid reminds you of that phase when one is completely aimless and clueless about the life after graduation. It reminds you of late nights parties, chatting the night away with friends and sneaking into movie halls after bunking the oh-so-boring lectures.

Wake Up Sid is about reviving those glorious, tension free years which cannot be erased from your memory, even after new memories are created.

Ayan Mukherjee's directorial debut, Wake Up Sid is like going back to those crazy college days the memories of which have settled in some devious corner of your sub-conscious. A real concept narrated honestly and in the most realistic fashion so much so that you start relating to Sid's character. Its Ranbir Kapoor's one of the finest performance who at a very young age has mastered the skill.

Wake Up Sid Review

Wake Up Sid's narrative strikes a chord immediately, courtesy: its simple storyline.

It narrates a story of a boy who is oblivious about his future plans. He did not make any as no one ever asked him that he had to have a plan. Yes, that is Sid or Siddharth Mehra for you. An uninspired college pass out who kills most of his time by going out with his friends, spending hours in front of the idiot box and day dreaming. He thinks that the world would be a much interesting place to stay if things went in a relaxing pace. His world is carefree. His friends, his X-box 360, his digi-cam, and his car are the few things which really matters in life.

Sid's life undergoes a massive change after he meets an ambitious writer from Calcutta, Aisha Bannerjee. She comes to the city to shape her career of being a writer. Aisha learns that Sid and she are poles apart on the very first day she meets Sid, despite the fact they both become best buddies. Time simply passes by for Sid until an array of circumstances trigger him to take a stoic look at himself and his life. Its time for some serious responsibilities and to get alive in real sense.

Wake Up Sid Review

Lets not compare Wake Up Sid with Dil Chahta Hai or with Lakshya, Ayan Mukherjee as a story teller did a commendable job to make Wake Up Sid stand out in the crowd. The direction is executed meticulously which generates sweet as well as bitter memories.

The first half entices you completely, as one gets drawn into Sid's world and starts relating to him. But the story get monotonous post interval, because of the writing. The going ons gets very slow. Its the climax which manages to get the zing back.

If the narration slackens at some point then the director also manages to incorporate strong element in some sequences, especially the emotional ones. The humor also is superbly combined in the going ons. Also sequences such as father and son confrontations are worth watching.

Anil Mehta's cinematography is superb, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy' music is hummable, and Niranjan Iyengar's dialogues hit the right chord.

Coming to the performances, Ranbir Kapoor has once again proved his acting talent and delivers an award-worthy performance. Konkona is effortless in her acting. Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak are wonderful and make a mark in their respective roles.

Wake Up Sid, on the whole is well-knit movie which is targeted at the youth mainly. Watch Wake Up Sid to revive old 'college-days' memories and Ranbir's superb performance.
