With a blend of dramas of Indian soap operas and stock market, director Shona Urvashi comes out with her second film 'Saas Bahu Aur Sensex'. A simple feel good film which covers interesting subjects from Saas Bahu shows, which dominate every household and the stock markets, which play an important role. It is a humorous family entertainer and so, it is a package of emotions, drama and humour. Alhough it's refined but the film would have created more impact had it been of shorter duration.

The story revolves around a divorced women, Binita Sen (Kiron Kher), who comes from Kolkota with her daughter Nitya Sen(Tanushree Dutta) and settles down in a colony in Mumbai. The colony gives us a glimpse of various strains of migrants from every corner of India- from Punjabi family to Tamil one. While Binita mixes up with the kitty party group, which includes Mrs Jetmalani(Lillete Dubey) and the others in the the colony, Nitya finds a friend in her neighbour Ritesh (Ankur Khanna), who works in a call centre and helps her landing a job at the call centre.

Meanwhile, Binita also comes across a stock broker, Feroze (Farooque Sheikh) while trying to sell some of her old shares. Feroze teaches her the nuances of stock market and recommends her a job in a nursery school.

The movie takes a turn when the kitty party group starts discussing about Binita and Feroze's relationship but they end up knowing something else. On the parallel also runs a love triangle between Nitya, Ritesh and Kriti (Masumeh Makhija) who is a middle class girl with dreams of becoming rich. Nitya has a soft corner for Ritesh but he loves Kriti.

Performance-wise Kiron Kher is graceful. Farooque Sheikh appears after a long gap but delivers a good performance as usual.Tanushree Dutta plays a de-glam character but was up to the mark. Ankur Khanna plays his part well. Masumeh is efficient in playing a suductress. Lillete Dubey and Sharon Prabhakar add a few funny moments.

Overall, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex is a unique theme but its narrative style and its below-average music lets it down. Although the director manages to convey the message to encouraging housewives to take interest in stocks for the progress of the nation leaving behind the saas bahu serials. Shona Urvashi needs to work more on the directorial side but has given a couple of very fine touch to the film. On the whole, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex is average but interesting in parts. At the box-office, it has fair chance to excel in some selected cities.
