Can you ever think that the most ordinary, uninteresting, guy you might have seen around you can have breathtakingand inspiring love story to tell?

But love has no difference between the ordinary - exceptional, the interesting and uninteresting. It can happen to anyone and this is what happened to Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan) - a simpleton, unattractive yet lovable, clean hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power, who finds his love in his total opposite, vivacious, flamboyant, fun-loving- Taani (Anushka Sharma) for whom the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with the colors of rainbow. Some unforeseen circumstances changes her life and brings them together. They get married but are not so happy due to the huge age difference between them. Taani is a good looking Punjabi kudi who does not like her husband but Surinder is deeply in love with her. Then there comes one dance competition that brings love in their life.

Surinder decides to transform himself into the kind of man his wife would admire. He becomes Taani’s dance partner- Raj in the competition. Taani doesn’t even realize that Raj is the same ordinary man she makes toasts for every morning. The irony of this love story is that- the more Taani is attracted towards Raj, the more Surinder goes away from her. Surinder cannot be Raj forever.
