Partner ReviewThe David Dhawan-Govinda duo is back on the silver screen with a bang, with their new movie "Partner". It works because Govinda shows traces of his old comic self once again. One would be stupid to expect some sense out of a David Dhawan flick and because it is all nonsense and that is what keeps you hooked. He can give a humorous twist to even hogwash. David has a strictly pleasantry brand of comedy. And 'Partner', his comeback film after a gap of one-and-a-half years, does carry a good dose of comedy. But it cannot count among Dhawan's best works. It is a good one-time watch. It seems to be heavily influenced by the Hollywood flick, "Hitch" but has desi and street flavor of comedy. The title of the story can be justified as the chemistry between Govinda and Salman is groovy. Neither of them tries to outdo the other. Despite this, Govinda dominates the proceedings simply because of his superb comic timing. Salman, too, gives a few moments of laughter, but he is no match for his chubby partner, who is rediscovering his old magical touch. In spite of her mesmerizing looks Katrina does not have much to do in the movie. Lara Dutta plays her part well. Rajpal Yadav is strictly satisfactory. But, Rajat Bedi's character of a womanizer is half-baked.
Partner ReviewGovinda's acting is the backbone of the film and Salman Khan, who shares equal footage, offers a good support. The plot is unfortunately flimsy, but its script makes the movie click. Also, the dialogues are far from prosaic. The comedy in the dialogues is in rhyme. For instance there is a very funny dialogue in the film that any viewer can easily remember, "Tu meri girlfriend ka saiyaan ban ke, naiiya ke upar, chaiyya chaiyya kar raha hai." The film is full of various other hilarious dialogues full of rhyming words. Hats off to Sanjay Chhel, the dialogue writer of "Partner." 'Partner' tells the story of a Love Guru, Prem (Salman Khan) and his chela, Bhaskar (Govinda). He is a chubby, full time dreamer who is in love with his stunningly beautiful boss, Priya (Katrina Kaif). On a different front, Prem falls for Naina (Lara Dutta), a journalist who keeps bumping into him while running away from the underworld's dreaded, Chhota Don (Rajpal Yadav). The two love stories move ahead and occupy the entire plot. First half of the movie is comparatively better than the second half.

The film has been shot on exquisite locations and cinematography contributes considerably to further enhance the beauty. The music by Sajid-Wajid is funky and goes well with the film's theme. "Do wanna partner!!! Oh Partner," is the most popular dance number. Govinda is back on silver screen after a gap of about three years and the repercussion can be clearly seen in his physique. He has gone further chubbier but his dressing style still stands apart from the mainstream fashion fundas. Sanjay Chhel, the writer and lyricist of the movie has definitely done a commendable job.
