You may not hate this love story but you will not love this either. Two love stories run parallel to each other and none of them have the 'magic' to pull it through. It is time Bollywood gives fitting farewell to clichés and stop equating love with 'drama', 'pink colour', 'running after the object of love' and 'don't-know-why feelings'.

If Raj and Simran (read Sonam Kapoor) love story evokes monotony and stereotypical and unbearable loyalty, the story of friendship between Simran and Jay (Imran Khan) is not any different. Title of the film 'I Hate Love stories' says only a fraction of what the film intends to emote.

Don't try guessing what the film is all about by looking at the title as it just takes into consideration the man's point of view and fails to throw light on the other side of the coin. Does not tell a new story to its audience but gives a new brush to the same story told over and over again. This Love story is not unlike the ones which Bollywood audience has grown out of. Director Punit Malhotra could have offered a better story in his debut venture as director.

Although Imran managed to put up a decent show in slightly comic scenes the sad ones got only sad performances. His 'don't believe in love' attitude and flirtatious disposition frequently met an untimely death in between the scenes. Sonam Kapoor looked pretty but her acting needs more grooming sessions. Samir Soni covered much of the canvas as Veer Kapoor, who is both witty and disciplined and full of worldly wisdom.

Punch-lines in the movie sometime struck the chord but often failed to tickle the funny bone. The musical interludes bringing back the nostalgia of 90’s did bring a humorous analogy with the contemporary. Music of Vishal-Shekhar was just an average show with songs like Sadka Kiya Ishq Ka and Bahaara Bahaara quite excelled in their own way.

Nondescript script and 'heard it before' dialogues create a déjà vu that fails to impress the audience. The predictability quotient of the film mars much of its vibrant charm leading to a dull ending.
