Off late there is a trend – the trend to come out with social . Heroes is a subtle attempt to this. The film is directed by Samir Karnik who previously made 'Kyun Ho Gaya Na' and 'Nanhe Jaisalmer'. No prizes for guessing, both the films were box office debacles. It will be interesting to see 'Heroes' fate at the box office.

'Heroes' is a story of two boys Sammy (Sohail Khan) who is humorous and witty and Ali (Vatsal Seth) a mature, responsible and an introvert. They travel a thousand kilometers to prepare a documentary on 'Why one should not join the army?' as a part of their film school assignment. They are also been asked to dispatch three letters to the families for three martyrs – Balkar Singh (Salman Khan), Dhananjay Shergill (Bobby Deol) and Sahil Naqvi (Dino Morea).

The film is about their journey which with a series of experiences awakens the feelings of patriotism in the two fun loving persons Sammy and Ali. The film is divided into three sensible parts. The first story is about Balkar's family which lost it's only son. His wife Kuljeet (Priety Zinta) has taken the responsibility to take care of the family. The second story is about Vikram Shergill (Sunny Deol) who has lost his brother Dhananjay (Bobby Deol) and his own legs during the war and still lives with pride and the third story is about a father played by Mithun Chakrobarty who is still annoyed with his son played by Dino Morea for not returning.

The script and screenplay is quite good. The music by Monty Sharma, Sajid-Wajid matches the script. The film is both, emotional and entertaining. It has evoking strong emotions. Talking of the cinematography, it's simply wonderful to watch the stunning locations of Chandigarh, Manali and Leh. Ladakh

Talking of the performances, the performance of every single actor is more than average. Sohail Khan has given one of his best performances yet. Newcomer Vatsal Seth has shown a remarkable improvement after his disastrous debut 'Tarzan'. Salman Khan looks lovely as a Sardar. Priety Zinta as a traditional Punjabi housewife is quite good. Sunny and Bobby are great to watch. Amrita Arora and Riya hardly have any role to speak about. All other characters have played their part perfectly.

Overall, it's a good film but could have been better if had been less emotional. But I must praise the subject which touches your heart and makes you understand that you don't have to be a soldier to love your country.
