After Chandni Bar, Page 3, Corporate and Traffic Signal, Madhur Bhandarkar now explores the most stylish and glamorous industry- the fashion industry. I really appreciate his choice of subject, because what others can't even think off, he portrays it. The film 'Fashion' will make you see the dark side of the fashion world, giving an insight into how aspiring models climb up the ladder of success and the change in their attitude once they attain the stardom. The movie shows every bit about the life of models and bring the inside secrets of fashion industry. It has everything - fashion weeks, casting couch, drugs, abuses, gay designers, bitching.

Fashion is a story of an aspiring model Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) who lives in Chandigarh and her journey to the Mumbai's modeling world. She leaves for Mumbai against her father's wish to become a super model. There she meets an aspiring designer Rohit (Ashwin Mushran) who provides her a helping hand and is an assistant to the big shot designer Rahul Arora (Samir Soni). She also meets Manav (Arjan Bawja) in the city while making rounds for auditions. Soon they become good friends and are seen sharing the same apartment. The Chandigarh girl is soon noticed by Anisha Roy (Kitu Gidwani), the top official of Panache, one of the top modeling agencies. And because of Roy, his boss Abhijeet Sareen (Arbaaz khan) too notices the small town girl. Meghna admires Shonali (Kangana Ranaut), the face of Panache who is soon replaced by Meghna. The new face, Meghna, finally gets to rule the ramp.

Meghna is aware that walking the ramp requires loads of attitude but with success her attitude turns into arrogance. This lowers her graph of success and she is soon replaced by some other face by Abhijeet Sareen. She then returns to Chandigarh but makes a comeback after an year. To know what happens further, you guys need to spend a little.

Mahesh Limaye's cinematography simply stands out. The screenplay by Madhur, Anuradha Tiwari and Ajay Monga touches every bit of the fashion world. Niranjan Iyengar’s dialogues are well written. Unlike Madhur's earlier films, the music of Fashion is outstanding. The film has its lows too and that is it's length. The duration of the film should have been lesser. Compromises have always been a part of Madhur's way of portraying a character. Like we saw Sandhaya Mridul in Page 3 marrying a much elder industrialist to get a high standard of living, Fashion makes us see model Mughda Godse tying the knot with gay designer Samir Soni with completely knowing about his boyfriend. The was typical of Madhur's style.

Priyanka Chopra simply rocked. Her transformation from a simple Chandigarh girl to an ambitious super model to an apologizing girl is excellent and beyond imagination. Kangana Ranaut too plays her part perfectly but her acting is similar to what she has done in films like Woh Lamhe and Gangster. Newcomer Mughda Godse is quite likeable and adds liveliness to every scene. 10 films old Arjan Bawja is extremely good. He has the screen presence and versatility to play a range of roles. The chemistry between Priyanka and Arjan is flawless. Arbaaz Khan, Ashwin Mushran and Kitu Gidwani are just brilliant. Raj Babbar and Kiran Juneja are good but doesn't have much to do in the film. All others have performed superbly in the film.

The movie is a high concept venture and Madhur has maintained his style. It's an outstanding film and a must watch for people who visit a theatre for something more than entertainment.
