Directed by Siddharth Anand of 'Salaam Namaste' and 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' fame and Produced by one of the biggest production houses in Bollywood, Yash Raj Films, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is a romantic-comedy film for youths with an ordinary storyline. This simple film has many enjoyable and a few magical moments. With young faces like Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika, Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba, the film so far has been successful in creating magic for the banner and its audience.

The movie connects the guys easily with the male lead character. The other characters too are easy to identify with. The film is about Raj Sharma (Ranbir Kapoor), a big time flirt and his relationships with three women. The first story starts with Mahi (Minisha), a sweet, romantic Punjabi girl who lives in the world of DDLJ. She is desperately waiting for his Raj (someone as romantic as Shahrukh's character in DDLJ) to come and marry her. She soon finds Raj, and then begins a teenage romance between the two. But soon we see Ranbir dumping her and moving on.

Now at 24, he once again falls in love. This time his setting goes perfect with Radhika (Bipasha), as it's a live in relationship. Bips plays the character of a struggling actress who is waiting for her big break in Mumbai. She is extremely loyal to her boyfriend and is all set to marry Raj, who leaves no stone unturned for a break up with her. Finally, he dumps her on their wedding day and flies to Australia.

Here he meets Gayatri (Deepika), who plays a multifacet character of a student, cab driver and a saleswomen. The story takes a twist here which was quite predictable. This time he genuinely falls in love but in turn he gets a big 'NO' from Gayatri who, to his surprise, doesn't believe in the institution of marriage. She is okay with flirting and time-pass kind of thing but for something as serious as love and marriage, she is not upto it.

All this makes him realise what his past girlfriends would have felt when he left them after having maximum of fun. He gets the taste of reality, quite different from fun and frolic times. From here begins the payback time. He wanders to places in search of Mahi and Radhika to seek forgiveness. The movie dramatically turns emotional with Ranbir begging for forgiveness from now married Mahi and Bollywood queen Radhika aka Shreya. Ultimately the movie follows the tested and tried pattern of Bollywood and is a happy ending after all.

Ranbir Kapoor stands out with a good performance. He has played both the serious and funny parts of his character superbly. His looks, performance, dancing and dialogue delivery, everything is just perfect. He makes us believe that he is a class one actor and is here to stay on the silver screen. Amongst the girls, it's Bipasha who simply outshines the rest. She carries her glamorous role with great ease but looks mature opposite Ranbir.

Whereas, Minisha looks cute and natural in her character. She has excelled in most of the emotional scenes. Deepika Padukone is good but doesn't have much to do in the film. Although the on screen chemistry between the real life lovers (Ranbir-Deepika) is flawless. Kunal Kapoor as Minisha's husband is brilliant in a special appearance. Hiten Paintal as Ranbir's friend is quite good.

Sunil Patel's cinematography is outstanding. It's delighting to see soothing locations of Italy, Switzerland and Australia in the film. Editing is crisp with all fresh dialogues. Well, everything in the film has been placed smartly without making its audience realise that the duration of the film is a bit long and story repetitive.

The music by Vishal-Shekhar is worth many claps. The title song, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' has been picturised brilliantly. The other song 'Khuda Jane' sung by KK and Shilpa Rao is slow, smooth and wonderful to hear. The next track ' Lucky Boy' picturised on Bips is a pub track with funky beats and unusual dance steps. 'Ahista Ahista' sung by Lucky Ali and Shreya Ghoshal is quite soothing. The other songs, 'Jogi Mahi' and ' Small Town girl' are good. Well, the music of the film is excellent with beautiful lyrics and great composition.

Overall, Bachna Ae Haseeno is an entertaining piece of cinema with great performances from fresh and young faces. With an ordinary storyline, this romantic comedy is up there for college goers, but the older generation can also live their school and college days at a different time.
