Movie Review (Posted on: Oct 10, 2009)
A well attempted thriller garnished with engaging chase sequences, so much so that they manage to keep your eyes wide open and you at the edge of your seat. You blink once and you are ought to miss an important link amidst lot of happenings. Yes, this is what thriller specialist Sanjay Gupta's latest directorial venture Acid Factory is all about.
Acid Factory is about a group of people (Fardeen Khan, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Manoj Bajpayee, Danny Denzongpa, Dia Mirza) who wake up in a deserted factory surrounded by bodies of apparently dead men. No one has clue about how they reached there and what has happened.

|
All that they could remember was few of them have been shot, one is handcuffed to a banister and is hanging by his wrist, one is deadlocked by a chair. They finally discover that all of them have lost their memories due to a deadly gas emitted from a container.
Adding to it is the confusion regarding who are victims and who are the abductors as two of them have been abducted by other three. There is a a tensed wife(Neha) searching for her hubby and police hunting for an apocalyptic man(Irrfan Khan).
Acid Factory is said to be inspired by a Hollywood flick 'Unknown', well modulated to fit the Indian sentiments and aesthetic sense. Enticing from the very start, Acid Factory keeps the propulsion triggering till the climax. So, stay alert while watching this well-constructed and well-performed flick.
Talking about the weak links, Acid Factory isn't for masses for sure. Cosmopolitan in its concept, the film is targeted at urban viewers who are inclined towards watching adrenaline thumping thrillers. Moreover, the climax fails to make any impact and adding to it the transitions at times get way too confusing.
Thanks to the plot, Acid Factory has something or the other happening in it. But the going ons have been dragged a way too bit and the viewers tend to loose interest until a point comes in the second half which reveals the real story behind the whole mystery.
Besides these, there is not much taking place in the first hour of the film, except the lost identities of the characters and their quest to solve it. Neha's character too is unjustified. The track seem to be pumped in meaninglessly.
Suparn Verma as a director and a storyteller has done a commendable job. Cinematography and sound design are first-rate. Not to miss the chase and stunt sequences which manage to skip your heartbeats innumerable times.

Toppled with competent performances, the film has an assemblage of established actors like Irrfan Khan, Danny Denzongpa and Manoj Bajpayee. Others such as Fardeen Khan, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea and Dia Mirza have lived up to the expectations and have confidently played their characters.
Watch Acid Factory for the 'heart in the mouth' kind of stunts and enticing plot.
