"Bura mazhab nahi, admi hota hai," while a section of sorted out individuals abide by this, there are few who firmly preach that the power flows through the barrel of gun.

Starting with an impressive narrative, Yeh Mera India describes the diversity of the nation and the ever persisting communal hatred among citizens. Every minor social issue plaguing the society is dealt with, in this two and a half hour flick. You name them and you will witness a subtle execution and treatment of every issue, be racial bias, caste bias, class bias, gender bias, lingual bias or immigrant bias. We see such incidents everyday, either via news channels or as victims.

Yeh Mera India ReviewCertain social issues like the immigration of North Indians (who are fondly called as NRM or Non Resident Mumbai by the localities) to Mumbai and residential societies reluctant to allot flats to members of a certain communities, continue to assure their places in the top headlines everyday.

Applause to N Chandra for incorporating all these and much more in the Yeh Mera India. After his iconic works, Ankush and Pratighat, he has once again done full justice to his latest venture.

Yeh Mera India hits the right chord and compels one to think. It explores the real stories behind the headlines by re-opening the old issues, such as Hindu-Muslim communal clashes, and how such incidents force common citizens to turn violent and revengeful. The movie is worth a watch. A hard hitting theme, every common man would relate to, in this social messenger.

The director picks up twelve different stories and inter-connect them in an interesting manner. Few of them are very disturbing, especially the plight of lower middle class who blame everything on their destiny. The movie certainly culminates on aam aadmi.

N Chandra as a storyteller has been successful in drawing the viewer's attention to the social issues, making the social drama edgy and sharp.

What is commendable is the way each story is dealt with. With so many social issues encompassed in one fine social drama, the going ons are bound to get lengthy. But it does not matter as long as the execution is perfect and each story is entitled to a justifiable ending. Moreover, all stories have happy endings, which is often not so in real life, symbolising that the goodness still persists.

Yeh Mera India Review

Yeh Mera India has an impressive star cast and all the actors have given exuberant performances by infusing life in their respective characters. The ones who stand out are Anupam Kher, Parvin Dabas, Vijay Raaz and Atul Kulkarni. Others who also deserve acclaim are Rajat Kapoor, Seema Biswas and Rajpal Yadav.

The bottomline of the movie remains simple, say no to hatred. "Bihar ho ya Andhra, sab apna hai. Sab ek hain." As Martin Luther King once rightly said, "we should learn to live together like brothers, or perish like fools."

Unity and humanity are the keywords.
