It is the world of sales where the day starts with the words like targets and deadlines crowd in one’s mind. Director Shimit Amin’s Ricket Singh tells a story of one such aspiring salesman, whose academic records may not support his ambition but that does not deter him from dreaming big.
Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor), who has graduated with poor marks and yet he dreams of an exciting career ahead. He stands upright and with a positive view point, Harpreet drags himself to a sales job which he feels suits him best. Having the gift of glib and smart look, he imagines himself as the most successful salesman, who can convince absolutely anyone to buy any kinds of products.
His smooth life soon gets the jerk as he comes face-to-face with the crudity of a professional life. Harpreet finds it strange the way a professional life demands things from him and struggles to find a balance between the demands of the professional world and his heart’s desire.
Shazahn Padamsee, daughter of ad man Alyque Padamsee, will make her debut in the film. She will be accompanied by another debutant, singer Sharon Prabhakar. Gauhar Khan and Sharon will also be seen donning important roles in the film.
After giving two successive hits like “Wake Up Sid” and “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, audience is expecting a lot from Ranbir Kapoor alias Rocket Singh. Even he himself admits that it is not only his greatest film, but it is also one of the greatest films in the recent times.
Jaideep Sahni of Chak De fame did the screenplay of the film. When it comes to music, the film has roped in music directors Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant. Benny Dayal, Vishal Dadlani and Salim Merchant have lent their voices in the songs. The song ‘Pocket mein Rocket’, sung by Benny Dayal, is already a hit.
‘Rocket Singh’ is expected to be a complete entertainer with the salesman of the year coming to you to sell his ideas. We have to wait and watch how he impresses us with his skills.
