R. Madhavan, plays the role of Lt. Colonel Rajesh P. Rao in the movie, who uses force to bring peace, while on the other hand, he also believes in giving people another chance. He is capable of seeing beyond the obvious, because of his years in Kashmir. Sanjay Suri, plays Mukhtaar Mattoo, who is a 38 year old reformed militant. He always tries to broker serenity between the militants, the army and the religious leaders. But at times his initiatives are of obscure nature.

Piyush Jha, the director explain the subject of the movie to be very relevant for both kids and adults; especially kids as it directly affect them. "The young minds today are forced to do things which are not of their understanding. It's very important to understand why they are lured off from the path of good. Firstly, it was only in war affected areas like Kashmir but now it is happening in other small towns of India too. So for me it became more important to have kids as protagonists and it's important for the parents to see the film and understand their kids better."

Sikandar's soundtracks are average with 'Dhoop Ke Sikke' making the best impression with 'Gulon Mein' doing good as well. Beyond that, the tracks are mostly situational and go in sync with the film's narrative.

'Dhoop Ke Sikke' registers a melodious starting to Sikandar. The tune is quite easy on ears and is for a relaxed listening. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy compels one to visualize the valley of Kashmir in the background as this soft rock track plays on. 'Gulon Mein', composed by Justin-Uday has similar lyrical flow. The song brings a thematic approach. Another track, 'Arzoo', has a teenage voice and is a traditional devotional number. It comes without any musical instrument in the background. It is most likely to be played in situations where prayers are been offered.

sikandar Preview “Sikandar” deals with violence, but the central theme of the film is that of peace. The film does not have a jingoistic or partisan point of view, and does not take sides, except the side of humanity.
