It seems comedy is having its sway over Bollywood in the recent times. After the immediate success of 'Kambakkht Ishq', another talked about comedy Short Kut is set to hit the theatres this Friday. Neeraj Vora, the director of 'Phir Hera Pheri' fame has come up with this hindi remake of Roshan Andrews' Malayalam movie "Udayananu Tharam". The comic essence is spread by the two struggling characters Raju (Arshad Warsi) and Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna). While Raju tastes success by establishing himself as a superstar after stealing a script, Shekhar's struggle as a writer and director never ceases to end, especially after his script gets stolen.
This third production of Anil Kapoor is a comic presentation of how the struggle of these two characters continue and that is duly added with series of chance happenings. The situation takes the comic turn when Mansi (Amrita), a leading actress settles down with Akshaye Khanna (who plays a writer cum director), but incidentally she gets involved with Arshad. The story moves ahead as Akshay directs his debut film with Raju as the lead actor.

Arshad Warsi has the penchant to play a bad guy, and this time he is once again eyeing applause from the audience for his villainous yet comic role. Warsi described his character as integral to the film as he increase the humour quotient with his performance as a bad guy. Unlike most other comedies, Short Kut is not a short effort to make people laugh, but rather it is wrapped with a story and nourished with dramatic tones.
Amrita Arora, who plays the lead role as an actress, will be seen flaunting her glamorous look, fit for the role she is playing. Amrita reasoned for her complete makeover as she is playing an actress in the film and since the director wanted to pinpoint the personal life of an actress through her character, she went ahead to ascribe completely a different styling to her character.

Akshay Khannae, who actually replaces Anil Kapoor, plays a struggling assistant with a high aim- to be a successful director. He forms a part of this series of co-incidences and struggle as his character traverses through high drama and confusion. The plot of Short Kut has various shades accompanied by fast changing circumstances evoking humour. Clashes of ego and hurly burly are the necessary toppings in the delicacy. The dialogues are penned by Neeraj Vora, and hopefully they have enough element of laughter in them.

The movie Short Kut has roped in the favourite singers of Bollywood. Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik and others have done their bit in the songs. While Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has taken the charge of composing the songs. Songs like, Kal Nau Baje, Kyun Hota Hai Dil Deewana, Mareeze Mohabbat and Patli Galli are expected to strike the right chord.
Set amidst the scenic locales of Thailand, Short Kut bears testimony to the rise and fall of a character. This upcoming comedy aims at exploring the tricks people play to enter the world of stardom and how suddenly they meet with downfall.
