A modern-day couple, Jai and Meera, who resides in London are very happy together and do not believe in the institution of marriage. They do not want to tie each other down and prefer to go with the flow of life, even if it demands to separate their ways in different directions. According to Jai, Heer-Ranjha, Romeo-Juliet, “janam janam ka saath” type couples are fictitious and exist only in story books but in real life one has to be practical.

Veer Singh is bewildered when he sets his eyes on Harleen for the first time. Only to have a glimpse of her, he travels a thousand kilometers by train, and swears that "is janam mein aur har janam mein... yehi meri votti banegi - Harleen Kaur." Even after the tedious journey and immense affection for her he blankly stares at her and yet not see a single word.

The clash in ideas comes when Veer does not understand how Jai can deal with matters of the heart like a financial transaction, sans any passion. Whereas, Jai fails to understand how could Veer Singh be so ignorant and giddy about her lady love in the days of his youth. But as the stories of both Jai and Veer Singh unfolds, it reveals that though the emotion of being in love remains the same, the process of relationship might vary in different eras. If there is fun and liberation in modern living as compared to the ignorance and compulsion in the past era, there is also confusion and anguish. Moreover, there is distance and affection which keeps growing as gaps distends between two people. The bridges, thus, keep growing.

With Saif donning twin role as an actor and a producer, Love Aaj Kal comes as a zero compromise project both from music and film front. The comeback of Jab We Met team of director Imtiaz Ali, composer Pritam and lyricist Irshad Kamil, is in itself a big reason to augment the expectations from the soundtrack of Love Aaj Kal. Right from the promos to the publicity, Love Aaj Kal is the hottest film of the season.

Aahun Aahun' kick starts the album. With various flavours of Punjabi, Hindi, English collaborating not just lyrically but also musically. It is a true blue fusion sung by Neeraj Sridhar, Master Saleem and Suzanne. The track also has a remix version and a captivating guitar strings which sets the mood in the opening and ending of the track.

Another track is 'Twist' which has the nagin tune, making the film much noticeable project. Sung by Neeraj Shridhar, 'Twist' which is a chart topper in the very first listening. It to has a remix version, and one can expect the song to play in discothèques, autos, marriage celebrations, in its complete glory.

Another track 'Chor Bazari', brings a naughty feel to the soundtrack, toppled with beautiful lyrics. Sung by Neeraj Shridhar and Sunidhi Chauhan, it seems to have been influenced by R.D.Burman kind of music. Another tracks are 'Yeh Dooriyan', sung by Mohit Chauhan, reprising the mood of 'Tum Se Hi' [Jab We Met], 'Ajj Din Chadheya', by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, 'Thoda Thoda Pyar' by Sunidhi Chauhan and 'Main Kya Hoon' by K.K.
