Farhan Akhtar the actor is back again after doling out two successive hit films from his bag. The "Rock On" star may once again find his "Luck By Chance" with his upcoming film. Written and directed by Vijay Lalwani, Karthik Calling Karthik is also another major break for the recent entrant in the Tinsel town, Deepika Padukone.
Touted as a romantic thriller, "Karthik calling Karthik" churns out a story of an extremely introvert person named Karthik (Farhan Akhtar). Karthik’s character is that of a gloomy one. He is also one of the frustrated individuals struggling with the baggage of emotions. The real story of the film revolves around the transformation of Karthik after he started to receive calls from a person by the same name.
Deepika Padukone (Shonali Mukherjee), who will don the lead character in the film, will be seen in a new avatar to reflect on her outgoing nature. Shonali represents the upwardly mobile women in the society who is in love with the idea of being free and independent. She is today’s girl and her makeover is aimed at bringing out the mod feeling.
The film will unfold the real essence of the story as the audience will get to know what kind of calls Karhik used to get and how did those calls create any impact on the protagonist. The film is expected to be an odyssey of a recluse character who strives to overcome a series of hurdles. It is to be seen how Karthik’s character metamorphoses into a new one with the help of someone. Ram Kapoor and Shefali Shah along with Boman Irani will be seen in important roles.
Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have been credited for composing music of Karthik Calling Karthik. The lyrics of the songs have been penned by Javed Akhtar. The film has included a lot of western music in its scores with singers like, Clinton Cerejo, Loy Mendonca and Shankar Mahadevan contributing to the host of tracks.
The audience expects another commendable performance from Farhan Akhtar who actually practised leading a reclusive life in a bid to prepare himself as a perfect loner for the role. The film releases on 26th February.
