It is fantasy time now, but that is only the centrifugal element that binds several others. Sujoy Ghosh's directorial venture Aladin is an adaptation of the classic tale 'Aladin and The Magic Lamp'. The movie intends to reprise the charm of the classical days and infuse modern re-imagining to create a magical concoction.

Riteish Deshmukh, who plays Aladin Chatterjee, lives in the city of Khwaish (very symbolic). The story projects him as an orphan, bullied since childhood by Kasim and his gang. Advent of Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandes) in his life brings a significant change. Jasmine gives him a magic lamp, and then comes the genie Genius (Amitabh Bachchan) into action.

The story takes a turn when Genius aka genie shows his desperation to grant him 3 wishes and do away with his contract with the Magic Lamp. He makes Aladin's life difficult, but the real trouble is yet to come. Sanjay Dutta, the ex-genie Ringmaster wants to kill Aladin. The curiosity builds up as we look out for the secret of Aladin's and Genie's past and the final destiny of Aladin.

Aladin is a co-production of Eros International and Sunil Lulla and it promises to bring before its audience some never-seen-before visuals. Presence of Miss Sri Lanka, Jacqueline Fernandez, will add to the charm of this adventure. This beautiful damsel is making her debut in Aladin as we will find her opposite Ritesh Deshmukh.

Bollywood reports reveal that superstar Sanjay Dutt, who portrays a character with a mean streak, has a nine-minute appearance in the film. Besides a noteworthy star casting, the film also has roped in eminent choreographer Shiamak Davar. Like every other film, Shiamak has made his actors (here Amitabh Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh) do some unusual dance moves. Composers Vishal and Shekhar have contributed in etching out good songs in this novel venture.

Come Friday and you can see for yourself what magic the lamp spells and what mysteries are unravelled.
