| I've improved a lot as a dancer - Amit Tandon |
|
|
New Delhi: A front runner from the Indian Idol fame, Amit Tandon has carved out a niche for himself on the small screen. In spite of the chocolate boy looks, he has proven his acting skills by bagging roles in daily soaps like, 'Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai'. A name to reckon with, lately playing the hearthrob in 'Sath Sath Banayenge Ek Aashiana', he is also seen on a dance reality show 'Zara Nach Ke Dikha' on Star One. The actor was recently in the Capital for the promotion of his debut album titled, 'Tanha'. Headlines India correspondent Kriti Verma spoke to him about his life, new album and future projects. Amit, congratulations for all the success you have achieved in such a small time span. |
| Amit: Well, thank you so much. |
What is your album 'Tanha' all about? |
| Amit: It's basically a dream come true for me. I had the dream to make an album, as I am passionate about music. My album 'Tanha' has all kinds of music- Sufi, romantic, rock and dance. I am sure that the music would compel the audience to tap their foot. |
Why such a title? |
| Amit: Well the first two songs of my album, 'Tanha' and 'Phir Teri Yaad' are emotional and describe loneliness. And this made me choose 'Tanha' as its title. |
After contesting in Indian Idol what made you shift to acting in TV serials? |
| Amit: From the very beginning I wanted to be a complete performer. I wanted to act, sing, dance and do all that is needed to be a good performer. While singing requires a lot of training, acting was easier for me. Also, I am lucky to have got a great break. |
Any future television projects? |
| Amit: No, not now. Currently, I am busy with my album launch and a dance reality show 'Zara Nach Ke Dikha'. |
Your take on reality shows! |
| Amit: Reality shows are really doing well. They provide a great platform to young talents. In no time they get name, fame, wealth and recognition. |
You are also a participant in the reality show called 'Zara Nach Ke Dikha'. How is the experience? |
| Amit: It's tiring, but paying off. I have improved a lot as a dancer and near to what I always wanted to be - a complete performer. |
What comes to your mind when you hear 'Indian Fashion'? |
| Amit: Indian Fashion brings to mind kurtas, salwar kameez, sarees etc. I guess Indian Fashion is growing and has reached the global market. |
Favourite designer! |
| Amit: Armani. I also love to wear Diesel T-Shirts and pants. |
Someone you admire! |
| Amit: I admire my wife. She has always been my inspiration. |
What efforts do you put in to look fit and healthy? |
| Amit: I do regular workouts. I follow a rule made by me and that is, if I eat a little extra, I compensate by doing extra workout. Also, I am dancing a lot these days which is helping me in keeping myself fit. |
Where do you see yourself five years down the line? |
| Amit: I see myself as an actor singing in my own films. |
