UK based Indian filmmaker Jagmohan Mundhra was in the Capital for the launch of the music album 'Dard-e-Shrelyn'. A graduate from IIT Bombay, known for making real life stories and women oriented films like Kamla, Bawander and Provoked.With 29 films and a spanning career of 25 years, the prolific filmmaker, Mundhra is associated more with small scale independent films. Headlines India spoke to the veteran director about his films and views on films. Following are the excerpts:
Hi Interview  How are you feeling to be at the launch of album 'Dard-e-Sherlyn'?
JM: It's a great pleasure to participate in the event. My heartiest congratulations to Sherlyn and I always love to encourage new talents.
Hi Interview  What is your take on Shreyln and her new album?
JM: She is a very talented and power packed performer. Without any godfather she had made a place in the industry. The album has remixes and audience will definitly get a different taste of music.
Hi Interview  Any special reason for making women centric films?
JM: I am excited about dramatic stories and real life stories thrill me. Although there are some inspirations and fictionalisation.
Hi Interview   What is the reason for a change from erotic thrillers to a film on Sonia Gandhi?
JM: It's not about a change. Sonia Gandhi is an iconic figure in the present Indian politics. Although the project is on hold for now. But talks will begin again after the elections are over.
Hi Interview  Why do you want to cast Monica Bellucci?
JM: I wanted the best cast for the film. And, Monika is a world class actress who has similar grace and looks as of Sonia Gandhi. So, it can be none other then her.
Hi Interview   What is your take on the controversies, which always surround you?
JM: I am not scared of any controversies. As an artist, I cannot decide what it's going to be.
Hi Interview  What is your take on the current bollywood actresses?
JM: I am simply surprised to see a lot of energy and enthusiasm in today's young stars. And, the way fitness have been given importance by them.
Hi Interview  What are you doing currently?
JM: My film 'Shoot on Sight' was screened at the 10th Osian Film Festival. The film is all set to release on 22nd August in London.
