| Twitter, the popular social networking site, suffered a major setback after a group of hackers claiming themselves to be 'Iranian Cyber Army', hacked the site and even desurfaced the homepage. The Iranian Cyber Army's page replaced the Twitter at 6 a.m. GMT today.
It came as a real shock for the Twitter users who discovered a new homepage with a message which read:
Iranian Cyber Army
THIS SITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY IRANIAN CYBER ARMY
iRANiAN.CYBER.ARMY@GMAIL.COM
A strong anti-US message followed below, which reflected the group's protest against the United States
The hackers state their grievances against the US and protest the country's effort to stimulate Iranian people. Tweeting is put on hold and it will continue to be so till the problem is resolved.
Twitter seems to have a difficult as this hacking incident happened just after the Twitter application Twitterfeed had a data migration that left many users with a reduced service.
After the hacking episode in August, this fresh instance surface the fact that loopholes are still there in Twitter's security mechanism. It is also a warning for the tweeple to keep their Twitter passwords safe. |
