'Twitter is over capacity', the phrase caught the entire twitter fraternity unaware and a long hiatus of this social networking made its million users impatient. Everyone seemed to ask a common question, what is wrong with the Twitterverse?

It seemed to be a major server failure on Twitter's part as its users were neither able to access their timeline nor could they see their tweets. While some expressed disappointments at this unexpected turn, some still kept their fingers crossed hoping to see the site up and moving.

The popular social networking site faced the wrath of its users world wide, which was reflected in the fact that "Stupid Twitter" and #FailWhale became trending topics of the day. The World Cup fever was high on Twitter when this site went disarray.

The problem began at around 8: 30 am IST, June 15, and the site is expected to be down until approximately 3: 30 pm IST. The operations engineers are currently putting their effort to resolve this problem.

Twitter had warned its users that a failed upgrade on Monday night is the prime reason why the site has become unusable to many.

However, the Twitter status page put the blame on "the failed enhancement of a new approach to timeline caching." The tweeples were found posting same message multiple times as they kept on refreshing and resending the timeline whenever they found the "Internal Server Error" message.

Twitter has evolved into a serious medium for companies who count heavily on this social networking site as a tool for customer communications and marketing. Even HeadlinesIndia, which has a considerable presence on Twitter, faced difficulty due to this hours-long problem.
