| New Delhi: Virender Sehwag, the aggressive opening batsman in Indian cricket team was on a role on the 1st One Day International against Sri Lanka as he rallied to his 12th ODI century in just 66 balls. The multiple record holder has a strong fan following and that is reflected even on Twitter.
The cricket enthusiasts on Twitter have been pouring admiration for their favourite 'viru' through their tweets. The twitterers seemed to love to see him on a rampage on the cricket field and some of the tweeple went on to declare Sehwag as the one who is 'redefining cricket'. One of the twitterers addressed him as 'Merciless sehwag' who was literally toying with the bowlers. The imagination of the twitter fraternity ran riot as one of them tweets, "special request from sanga (Sangakkara) to icc... allow us to keep 111 fielders for sehwag".
Be it their observation about the match or their wishes for double ton, the tweeple have been pro-active in sharing them all. One of the tweets read, "SL failing terribly to quieten down Sehwag" and the other asserts, "everyone in the vicinity is praying he scores a double today." Some of them seemed to have taken the responsibility of virtual commentary as they kept on tweeting ("another six and 4 OMG") overs by overs.
Although the batting maestro could not hit the double ton, yet that did not deter his fans from thanking him as "Nobody makes a Tuesday morning better than you".
The level of support Sehwag has been getting from his fans on Twitter does not leave any space for doubt that cricket lovers are always there to cheer him up, even if it is just through their tweets. Perhaps the best acknowledgment was given to Sehwag by this tweet, "sehwag's runs per over is greater than my words per minute." |
