Ranchi, May 10: Priyabhnashu Ranjan, the boyfriend of Delhi journalist Nirupama Pathak who was found killed in her home in Jharkhand on April 29, today filed a writ petition in the Jharkhand High Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in her murder.

"We have filed a writ petition in the high court seeking a CBI probe in the death of Nirupama Pathak. The role of police and doctors who conducted the post-mortem (examination) is under suspicion. Police destroyed the vital evidences in the case," Priyabhanshu's lawyer Rajiv Mishra told media.

He said they have also sought a stay on both first information reports (FIRs) filed by the police - one under which Nirupama's mother Sudha Pathak was arrested and charged with her murder, and the second against Priyabhanshu for cheating, rape and abetment to suicide filed by police on the instructions of a Koderma court.

A team of Koderma police is in New Delhi and has questioned Priyabhanshu and some common friends of him and Nirupama. (IANS)
