| Karachi, Apr 21: IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi, who is now in serious trouble for his alleged involvement in monetary scams in IPL have received support unexpectedly from Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, who is the T20 captain of the nation.
Afridi said that if Modi resigns from IPL then the biggest sports event will receive a setback. He also said that Modi is responsible for envisioning and initiating the event and without his absence IPL will surely suffer.
Enforcement Directorate and IT Department has accused Lalit Modi of money laundering activities and currently investigating on the issue. It is being speculated that Modi may have to resign from his post or would be put under a supervisory committee curbing his authority to implement his control over IPL.
This year, Pakistani cricketers including Afridi were not purchased by any teams during the IPL auction. However, the veteran Pakistani cricketer is still hopeful of participating in IPL matches in the mere future. |
