New Delhi, Aug 10: Looks like India has clearly disapproved of the US Border Security Bill that is looking to up the fees of the H-1B and L-1 visas. They have said that this step betrays a protectionist image and would be generating some very serious queries as the targets are a select group of business enterprises.

It is being assumed that the companies likely to bear the brunt of the said move are Tata, Wipro and Infosys, prominent names of the information technology sector of India. New Delhi on its part has revealed that it would be waiting for the issue to develop further before taking a stand.

Experts of law opine that following the enactment of the said Bill, it may be challenged at the World Trade Organisation. The main reason behind such conviction is the fact that this Bill equates to de facto bias against the Indian business houses.

Dr. Khullar, the Commerce Secretary has stated that this bill has contradicted the US claims that it is not a protectionist nation. He also stated the US had said that it would not be creating new barriers in the way of free trade but the bill points to something else. He has termed the bill unfair.
