Washington, Aug 18: It has been reported that India might take the matter of the visa fee hike to the World Trade Organisation. US is however hopeful that this bill would not hamper its relations with India, especially the economic ties that have been continuing for a long time now.

Mark Toner, spokesman of State Department has said that US is aware of the feelings of the Indian government regarding the issue of increasing the fees of visas to be provided to workers.

Authorities have accepted that the visa fee increase would affect Indian investment in US in a negative manner. They are also aware that the Indians working in US would be affected when this bill comes into effect.

Toner has however expressed confidence that the long term economic partnership with India would be there in days to come. He was also sure that this relation would continue to be mutually beneficial to both India and US.
