| New Delhi: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon here on Thursday emphasised the need for sustained investments in the health sector following the global financial crisis, and called for strengthening the "public health systems".
Ban, who met Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday in the capital, discussed the impact of recession on the health sector.
"In these times of recession, what is required is more investment in the health sector and strengthening of the public health systems," said an official statement quoting Ban.
Lauding the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) running in the country, Ban assured continued and enhanced technical support of UN agencies in the various facets of NRHM. (IANS) |
