Indian experts to learn Chinese foodgrain storage methods

New Delhi, June 17: India will send a team of technical experts to China to study the warehouse construction and foodgrain preservation methods, Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas said here today.

A delegation led by Thomas had visited China from June 7-11 to study the modern storage facilities in China, its applicability in India for largescale foodgrain storage and to explore areas of co-operation in this sector.

"During discussions with Chinese officials, it was decided that a team of technical experts and construction engineers from the Food Corporation of India (FCI), the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and some state agencies will visit China to further study the modern warehouse construction and foodgrain preservation methods," Thomas told reporters here.

He said a group of technical experts from China would be invited to visit India in October/November to visit storage facilities in this country and interact with officials of the FCI and the CWC. (IANS)
