World Bank officials to visit Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: The World Bank Country Director and Sector Managare will visit Himachal Pradesh from 9th to 11th March, 2010 to discuss the second phase of the watershed project. This message was received today by the State Government.

This follows the meeting of Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal with the World Bank Authorities during his recent visit to Costa Rica in Washington.

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal during his visit to USA had held meeting with the World Bank authorities. On the conclusion of his visit to USA and meeting with the World Bank officers in Washington, the World Bank has in principle agreed to sanction Himachal Pradesh Programmatic Development Policy Loan (DPL) of US $450 million for sustainable environmental growth keeping in view the path breaking track record of the State in environmental growth front.

The sustainable efforts initiated by H.P. for environ growth were lauded by the World Bank and with the World Bank assistance, the State would carry forward its endeavours already initiated in the field of environment.
