Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor
New Delhi: The India-Pakistan foreign secretary-level talks scheduled for Feb 25 are not being held under US pressure, Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor said here today. The minister told reporters there was no pressure on India from any country to hold talks with Pakistan. Generally, no country applies pressure on another country in such matters, said the minister at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ).

Tharoor also said informal communication has always been there with Pakistan even after the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai.

He said "terrorism is an important issue in our agenda", even though Pakistan might have its own agenda.

The minister added he did not expect any "path-breaking" outcome of the Feb 25 talks, adding that the dialogue would however continue. (IANS)
