| Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government is committed to provide better and quality services to the patients throughout the State and efforts are afoot to make Indira Gandhi Medical college (IGMC) and Hospital as one of the premier medical institutes of the country. This was disclosed by Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health & Family Welfare Minister while presiding over the first meeting of newly reconstituted Governing Body of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), IGMC and Associated Hospital Shimla on Tuesday.
Dr. Bindal said that RKS, IGMC have decided to provide free of cost treatment to the patients in emergency for the first 24 hours. He said that during this period all routine investigations, procedures and medical items available would be provided by the hospital authorities free of cost and patients would be charged after they are shifted to general/special wards as per prescribed rates.
The Governing Body approved an estimated budget expenditure of Rs 875.70 lacs for the financial year 2009-10. It is decided that there will be no hike in the User Charges for General Ward patients and prevailing rates will continue. Although, IRDP, BPL and poor patients will be treated free of cost.
Health & Family Welfare Minister said that State Govt. had filled 250 posts of nurses out of which 127 nurses have been posted at IGMC Shimla. He went on to add that 150 more posts of nurses are proposed to be filled shortly out of which 40 nurses will be posted in IGMC Shimla. In addition to this, he revealed that state government has decided to fill up 13 functional posts of various categories through Rogi Kalyan Samiti of IGMC Shimla.
Dr. Bindal said that state government will introduce Free Ambulance Service in the state and also going to provide a Toll Free Number for this purpose. The Samiti has decided to provide one ambulance service to the needy patients for Rs. 15 per km to transport Outdoor and Indoor patients from the hospital only.
He said that during the last financial year Himachal Pradesh government had equipped the IGMC and Associated Hospitals Shimla with latest equipments and facilities. He pointed out that during last one and half year number of specialised posts and test facilities has been increased. Government also contemplates to set up 64 Slide CT Scan in IGMC.
Dr. Bindal highlighted on the efforts given to bring IGMC and Kamla Nehru Hospital under one roof. The construction work being carried out in IGMC complex is being organised in such way that it can accommodate KNH also.
Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj, local MLA emphasised on quality and affordable medical services to the patients. He said that parking facility in IGMC would be streamlined besides ensuring cleanliness in the hospital.
Sh. Deepak Sanan, Principal Secretary Health Services ensured better health services to patients, particularly weaker section of the society.
Dr. S.S. Minhas, Medical Superintendent IGMC gave a presentation about the activities being undertaken by Rogi Kalyan Samiti of IGMC and Associated Hospital Shimla.
Sh. Narendra Kataria, Mayor MC Shimla, Dr. Surendra Kashyap, Principal IGMC, Dr. Jaishree Sharma, Director Medical Education, Dr. Kewal Krishan, CMO Distt. Shimla, official & non-official members of Rogi Kalyan Samiti and senior officers of PWD, IPH & IGMC were also present among others. |
