Mumbai: Mumbai recorded its seventh H1N1 casualty today with a 28-year-old businessman dying at the private Hiranandani Hospital here, according to an official.

The victim, Sandeep Gaikwad, was admitted to the hospital three weeks ago in a serious condition. Despite the long treatment, the resident of Kandivli suburb in northwest Mumbai did not recover and passed away early in the morning.

With this, seven people have died of the influenza in the city. An official statement issued in the afternoon that said six people had died did not mention Gaikwad.

There are 34 H1N1 positive cases undergoing treatment in various city hospitals, according to a Mumbai Disaster Control official.

With Gaikwad's death, 68 people all over the country have been killed after contracting the influenza.(IANS)
