Man dies, swine flu toll is 15 in Karnataka |

| Bangalore: A 28-year-old man died of influenza A (H1N1) here, taking the toll from the virus to 15 in Karnataka, an official said today.
Siddaraju died at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) on Sunday. He was from Cholanayakanahalli village on the city's outskirts.
"He was tested positive for both influenza A (H1N1) virus and Chikungunya. He was admitted to the hospital in serious condition on Aug 21," RGICD director Shashidhar Buggi told media.
"After confirming that Siddaraju was suffering from swine flu, we are declaring his death due to A (H1N1) virus," he said. "We had administrated Tamiflu but his condition deteriorated."
Karnataka registered its first swine flu death on Aug 12. Within a fortnight, the state saw 15 deaths.
Nine new swine flu cases were reported in Karnataka on Monday. Eight of these were from Bangalore and one from Shimoga.
Twenty-seven people in Bangalore, five in Belgaum, one each in Mysore and Shimoga and two in Mangalore are undergoing treatment for swine flu virus. (IANS) |
