| Hyderabad: Even after the disease has claimed many lives in the city, hospital authorities in Andhra Pradesh are unaffected by the rising toll of swine flu deaths. No stern action towards swine flu prevention has been taken by them.
The critical cases are been neglected by the hospitals, labeling them social outcasts. Victims are shifted from one hospital without any immediate treatment.
Recently, a victim succumbed to the pandemic disease due to delay in treatment. He was shifted to three hospitals before the medicos attended him. The patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress (ARDS) and pneumonia. He was not only denied admission on the grounds of no vacancy, but even a stretcher.
With the struggling victim on their shoulders, the relatives of the boy had to run from one hospital to another.
This is not the only case, six to eight such cases have been abjured admission at hospitals on daily basis. Hospitals such as Chest Hospital refer the cases to Gandhi hospital and OGH, but the sources confirm that most of the cases are also not admitted by the two government hospitals. |
