International Financial Corp gives $15 mn loan to WaterHealth |

| New Delhi: International Financial Corp (IFC), a member of the World Bank group, has given a loan of $15 million to WaterHealth India to set up water purification facilities in Indian villages, it was announced on Tuesday.
WaterHealth India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of WaterHealth International, a leader in providing access to clean water to people around the world.
With the loan, WaterHealth will set up water purification facilities in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
"To be able to provide clean water at affordable prices for households that earn less than $2 a day, we turned to IFC for long-term financing," said WaterHealth India chief operating officer Vikas Shah.
Added Paolo M. Martelli, IFC South Asia director: "This project, IFC's first in India's distributed water services sector, will provide access to clean drinking water for rural households."
WaterHealth India has already installed systems in nearly 200 villages in Andhra Pradesh. (IANS) |
