Govt may make changes in women's bill to arrive at a consensus |

| New Delhi: United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi came out clear on Monday that she is bent upon passing the Women's Reservation Bill in Rajya Sabha today.
According to the Congress sources the Congress Core Committee meeting on Monday night was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi along with other senior leaders. The meeting concluded with a decision that every that all attempts would be taken today to get the bill passed.
Earlier, MPs from Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal foiled every bid to make the bill a law.
Congress now aims at getting the Bill passed even though there are disruptions. The sources further reveal that that party was willing to make some amendments to the Bill provided that helped in arriving at a general consensus. |
