Delhi: Nothing was well today in both the Houses of the Parliament as the political parties like Samajwadi Party and the RJD shook hands with Janata Dal-United to demand 33 % reservation for the Muslim women and women from the backward classes. Relentless protest in both the house has led to the disruption of Parliament proceedings with the protesters not agreeing to give their vote in favour of the proposed women's reservation bill.
After much ruckus in the parliament over the bill it has been decided that the voting will take place on Tuesday. The BJP and UPA allies would like to have a debate before the voting on the Bill. Earlier, both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned four times with the Samajwadi Party and the RJD declaring their decision to withdraw support from the UPA.
Moreover, members of the Samajwadi Party tore up copies of the women's bill and hurled them at Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari.
The Prime Minister has called an all-party meeting on Tuesday to discuss on how to tackle this issue. Interim, senior Congress leaders Pranab Mukherjee and Ahmad Patel have been meeting the allies individually. |
